From the Desk: Liche Priest

happening besides what's on video. These past few weeks have been a bit of a strange one with some crossed emotions filling my feelings on the brush. On one hand, I've been missing playing games on the tabletop, especially with my friends down at the Spire club (where my painting studio is located). Looking at all my miniatures which are still on sprue and awaiting to be painted in the colours of the Vth. But also in conflict as I have this drive where I want to push my painting even further. My other mates all coming back from GD and just crushed it, taking home a good handful of trophies and even the Slayer Sword. I can't tell you how proud I am of my team, and honestly, it stung deep that I wasn't able to go nor found enough time to make an entry worth travelling out to compete. That feeling of so many things and the currency I can't seem to get more of is TIME! If there is one goal this year it's to make better use of my time and make sure I'm scheduling time to scratch my gaming itch with tabletop painting, and of course, getting works ready with a sharp brush to take a serious stab at competition painting.

The start of the Liche Priest shown above is my first foot forward after completing the Bone Dragon. Though originally this would just be a quicker tabletop painting soon became much more as I felt the desire to sharpen my brush and paint this tiny character. Those details on his face are hella small, and challenging, but also enjoyable for the soul. I got lost in this one as I thought I would only be on this for an hour before getting back on the Troggoth, but I also paint along with how I'm feeling. I have his face under the video lens which I'll be stoked on sharing with you all. With the gold already shown and the recipe completed in Part 2 on the Dragons head crest. There are just the wraps and tattered cloth cape left to cover which I think will make for a good part tutorial covering these elements found in the Tomb King's list of subjects to paint.

Looking back I think this was the right idea to follow what I was feeling and in the mood for. Yes, it's a change in plan, but sometimes you just have to listen to your Muse and go with what she wants. I know it's where my best work comes from and I hate when I can't deliver my best regardless if it's a quick tabletop piece or a grand commission of the Lion. Sorry again for a bit of a quiet period in this series where I share WiP and speak my mind. Hope you all have a great weekend and I'll be coming back to these to share with you more often. All the best and Happy Painting :)
