soaring on golden threads
More development of the wing on Tornus the Redeemed. After some consideration, I've decided to extend the gold from the initial comet and sunray spikes and flow into the entire frame. This gave me a bit more breathing room in terms of NMM chrome exhaustion to be honest, and also a visual anchor to help with the structure of the piece itself. With so many reflective elements and the number of light points, we can sometimes lose the outline of the model itself. So by going for this finish of gold, I've toned down the reflective properties of this gold a touch-down (This isn't as much of a polished chrome gold as compared to the blue steel armour).
Building on what was shown last week with the stages of the nmm, flipping it around and starting to work on the backside of the wing. This process has already started off as a much smoother working process as I've gained a lot of knowledge during my days working on the front. Lots of refinement, study of each session, and working out a plan for the next session. The entire sketch of the wing I've had under the camera this time, as my process has become more refined and editable in the time since I can share a video process with you all next week. Building upon the notes from the "Wings of the Redeemed" post, I wanted to focus some lessons on sketching, and landmarking techniques I use alongside references to help make this more critical early stages of painting successful and work to your painting process.
As another global update to more of what's coming on Patreon. With the final 3 weeks till Golden Daemon closing in fast, I will have to apologize in advance if this month has a shortage of video tutorials to my usual 3-4. I hope you all can understand this with what this project is pushing me through! After so much NMM painting, I have some wonderful new and refreshing projects to begin, all with a general overarching theme of Skin! As always, I hope you are all enjoying the time on the brush, keeping a healthy and positive mindset and continuing to stretch your creativity! Thank you always for being an amazing community of painters and I'm lucky enough to be among such brilliance.
Much love and Happy Painting,
Bb
