Lion El Jonson

Primach of the Dark Angels and the First Son of the Emperor of Mankind. My portrayal of the Lion is rooted in the theme of a hero’s journey stepping into the light from the darkness. A man who has confronted his past filled with shame, guilt, jealousy, and hubris; leading him to fail his brothers, father and the Imperium. Emerging from 10 thousand years of recovery both physically and mentally, to be a source of wisdom, temperance, and stoicism. Not in a fit of rage, charging headlong into the fray in acts of revenge, but in careful step poised to defend the imperium of which he failed to save.

To reflect those feelings of the Lion in the model, I’ve decided to lean heavily toward the use of colour temperature to further push the contrast and portray this pivotal moment of change in his character. The front is bathed in a warm yellow-ochre light, from which he’s left the blue cold of his past behind him. The divide seems right down the middle half cutting the shoulder pauldrons in perfect halves of both the lion and his name on the shoulder pads. With also his sword being in a division also. A nod to himself in a state of forward change, where it is only the shield that is pure and only in warm light due to it also being a gift from the Emperor of Mankind, his father.
