Yue Fei - Noyan Khan of the White Lotus, vth legion Ordu Jajhatai.

A legion known to conduct warfare at the highest speed possible, and what better imagery than a streak of a silver bullet. This was the creative imagery I had in mind with this White Scars Noyan Khan (Praetor) riding to war! With the original concept of a rising sun on one side, and the sky above on the other. It made for a wonderful hot/cold contrast that would be reflected throughout his armour and bike. Painting reflections and light shapes would have to be the hardest part especially on the nose of the bike. It went through 4 or 5 iterations until I had to surrender to the work and allow myself to be free to create whatever light shapes I felt with the flow of the sculpt. Honestly the most relief I’ve felt painting a miniature at the time and even with its flaws I can see now, it’s still one my most memorable processes of painting I’ve experienced to date. The love was further reciprocated as I was awarded the Bronze Medal from the Cult of Paint MPO competition.
