Celebrating 2024!
Hey everyone, it's New Year's Eve 2024 and a wonderful time to cap off another wonderful year under the brush and reflect on the projects, lessons, and all the amazing new artists I've met. I enjoyed this time gathering all the images of completed models and compiling them into one big collage. A tour of work that I can reflect on not only the outcomes of each piece, but also the various challenges, refined techniques, and discoveries through their process. And also a great moral boost, as sometimes I forget just how many projects I've completed, where at times we can be a bit harsh on ourselves thinking I could have spent the time better.
This year's big standout milestone comes in as a big thank you from all of you here on Patreon x Pro Palette. The passion and connection that's created through this medium bless me with an amazing community. Your willingness to learn, and expand your creativity, contributing to support my teachings and enjoyment of my work has reached my first milestone in creating a sustainable platform that enables me to continue doing what I love. With over half of my professional income now coming from teaching, it's another leap towards my artistic goals and bringing the most passionate projects forward and under the camera lens to share with all of you.
Of course, if you haven't noticed, I've been on a bit of a creative break over the holidays. Bear with me as it comes as a needed clean slate to help empty the mind, letting things flow through, allowing myself to get a little bored, and now being energized and missing the brush! I'm always an advocate for going hard in the paint, but all of us need a little break from the muse. But as you can see, I've started to get my groove back and in 2025 we are going to go in hot! The Stromcast Challenge gets an extension in both painting contests due date till January 31st,2025, as well as a new NMM tutorial covering weathered and worn metals. Turning those shiny Sigmar-marines into something darker, unkept and less high fantasy looking.
As well as I make a return to a larger-scale model in the form of a bust! For as long as I've loved painting and photography, I've enjoyed portraits and the study of the human face. Arriving shortly after the NMM tutorial will be the first part of this bust from Mindworks Games - Hare of the Moon by Brom.
This tutorial will also be released alongside a new Fundamentals tutorial all about colours, with Kimera paint at the forefront of its use, how I'm working the palette, and essential colour mixing modes to help you. This isn't strictly just for Kimera paints, as we easily use other paint brands you like. Even coming shortly, I'll be testing out the new Ionic Paint from Big Child Creative and MIG AMMO to add to the frenzy.
Lots of wonderful things to reflect on from 2024, and more exciting things to come in 2025! Thank you all again for an amazing Milestone Year on the brush, much love, and Happy Painting.
